Poolside is an American artificial intelligence company that develops large language models and foundation models for software engineering and coding applications. It was founded in early 2023 by Jason Warner, former CTO of GitHub, and software entrepreneur Eiso Kant, and is headquartered in San Francisco.
Its products and platform include agentic coding models, self-managed inference, APIs and agent workflows for secure software engineering. The Laguna model family is built for agentic, long-horizon coding, and Poolside releases Laguna model weights publicly so developers and teams can evaluate, inspect and run the models. Poolside also offers Poolside Foundation Models for Software Engineering and the Poolside Enterprise AI Platform, which is deployed within enterprise infrastructure and integrates AI across development tools and environments without compromising data security.
Developers can use Poolside through the Poolside Agent CLI for interactive terminal sessions and for scripts and CI jobs, through an OpenAI-compatible API, and through integrations with ACP-compatible editors, Poolside Assistant, desktop apps and coding agents. Self-managed deployment runs model inference and supporting services in a VPC, on-premises data center or other controlled infrastructure, including air-gapped environments, so code, prompts and data remain within the customer's environment.
Poolside uses a system called Model Factory to train its models and evaluate training outcomes, and its models are trained using reinforcement learning from code execution feedback across hundreds of millions of real-world tasks. It has partnered with AWS to provide AI products on Amazon Bedrock and Amazon EC2, allowing businesses to deploy Poolside foundation models within existing AWS environments. Poolside has also signed contracts with the United States Department of Defense, RTX Corporation and other companies in the American defense industrial base. The first phase of its Project Horizon 2-gigawatt AI campus in Pecos County, Texas, started in October 2025.
